The bigger temples in Khajuraho have an Ardhamandapa – a passage circling the sanctum sanctorum. The walls of most Ardhamandapa are exploding with sandstone stories like the one you see here. The best thing about these corridors is the light streaming in through strategically placed windows. You can go overboard with your camera here or just find a dark corner to sit and stare at these panels. Or, do both.
This is the Ardhamandapa of the Kandaria Mahadeva temple, the largest and most prominent temple in Khajuraho. There is something that’ll stay with you even after you leave.
